FOUNDERS MEDAL OF THE
INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF DERMATOPATHOLOGY
In 2011, the Portuguese artist and medalist, Vasco Berardo, was commissioned by the ISDP Officers and Board of Directors to design a "medal of honor", that was titled the "FOUNDERS MEDAL OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF DERMATOPATHOLOGY".
This bronze Medal depicts the original founders of the ISDP, and was completed in 2012 with only 50 copies of the Medal produced. The awarding of this medal pays the highest tribute to an outstanding member of the Society for their years of extraordinary service and commitment to the ISDP Community.
The first member of the ISDP awarded the Founders Medal was Dr. Wen-Po "Daniel" Su. Dr. Su received the Founders Medal on the occasion of the XXXIV Symposium in Florence, Italy, September 26 – 28, 2013.

The second member of the ISDP awarded the Founders Medal is Dr. Jorge Sanchez, one of the original founders of the ISDP. The award ceremony was held at the XXXVII Symposium of the ISDP in Lima, Peru, on October 6, 2016.
The third member of the ISDP awarded the Founders Medal is Dr. Helmut Kerl of Austria, one of the original founders of the ISDP. The award ceremony was held at the XXXVIII Symposium of the ISDP in Glasgow, Scotland, in September of 2017.
The fourth member of the ISDP awarded the Founders Medal is Dr. John Maize, Sr. The award ceremony was held at the XXXIX Symposium of the ISDP in São Paulo, Brazil, in October of 2018.
 
Dr. Omar Sangueza is the fifth member of the ISDP to be awarded the Founders Medal. The award ceremony was held at the XL Symposium of the ISDP in Lisbon, Portugal in September 2019.
 
Dr. Luis Requena was awarded the ISDP Founders Medal at the award ceremony at the XLII Symposium of the ISDP in Dubai, UAE in November 2023.
